Introduction & General Information

JLCT is a Japanese Language Capability Test conducting in several countries. Each level of JLCT is generally equivalent to the corresponding level of the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test).

The test is designed to be practical and useful in real-world situations. It is an effective way to measure/evaluate practical Japanese language proficiency.

The JLCT Test is widely acceptable for admission to almost all Japanese language institutions in Japan. However, this test is not just for those who want to study in Japan. It is also recognized by the Japanese Immigration Service Agency as a proof of Japanese language proficiency in the real-world situation and business-related contexts.

The JLCT test is open to all non-native Japanese speakers and Japanese language learners.

Test Levels

JLCT Test is available in 5 different levels of Japanese Language Capability: JCT5 (For Beginners – Easiest Level) to JCT1 (For Advanced – Highest Level).

Test Sections

JCT1 and JCT2: Two Sections

• Section 1: Vocabulary, Grammar and Reading Comprehension
• Section 2: Listening Comprehension

JCT3, JCT4, JCT5: Three Sections

• Section 1: Vocabulary
• Section 2: Grammar and Reading Comprehension
• Section 3: Listening Comprehension

The test is generally conducted 6 times a year in Pakistan – in January, March, May, July, September and November.

Official Test Fee & Payment Details

Registration will not be considered and accepted until the full test fee has been paid in advance at the time of registration.

Bank Payment Details

Please deposit the Test Fee directly to the following Bank Account of JLCT Pakistan and provide the payment details (e.g. Bank Funds Transfer Reference Number, Transaction ID and Date of Payment) in the registration Form while registering. Also, upload the screen shot of the transaction.

Registration Process & Examinee Numbers

After successful registration, you will be contacted and informed your examinee number around 2 weeks before the test. The Examinee numbers will also be posted on this Web Site.

The registration deadline (cutoff date) for each test is 20 days before the date of each test. After the registration deadline, registration will be closed.

The JLCT Test is conducted at the Test Centers of NTS (National Testing Service, Pakistan).

Islamabad Test Center

In Islamabad, the test will be held at NTS (National Testing Service) Test Center, located at the following address:

JLCT Application Form & Filling Method

Please download the JLCT application form and example of how to fill it from the Downloads page.

• The JLCT application form can be filled either by handwriting or by Computer.
• Each candidate must complete the Application Form with recent photo and correct information as required in the form.
• DO NOT STAPLE THE PHOTOGRAPH. PASTE IT ON THE APPLICATION FORM.
• Please also fill-in your Examinee Number on the Application Form at the specified two (2) places as shown in the Example.
• Please check your examinee number from the Examinee List posted on this site about 10 days before the test date.

For School Students

In case of students from a Japanese Language School, the school principal, teacher or Instructor in charge should sign and stamp the application form to attest/verify that the information written is correct.

For Individual Candidates

In case of individual candidates, they can sign themselves to verify that the information on the form is all correct.

On the Test Day: Necessary Information & Procedures

Documents and Items to Bring

• Original CNIC or other proof of identification. Without Original CNIC, students will not be allowed to take the test.
• Original Completed Application Form with photograph properly pasted on it (Not Stapled). The original application form shall be collected by the in-charge of the test center.
• HB Lead Pencil, Eraser, Pencil sharpener. Please use only HB Lead Pencils to fill in the Answer Sheets. Ball pens or ink pens cannot be used to fill in the answer sheets and such answer sheets will be cancelled.

Test Time

Arrival Time: Students MUST arrive by 10:00 AM at all test centers.

Important: Latecomers will not be allowed to take the test.

Method of Filling-in JLCT Answer Sheets

Key Points

• ONLY lead pencil must be used for the answer sheet. The answer sheet is rejected if a Ball Pen or Ink Pen is used to fill it in.
• Darken the correct bubble/bullet properly.
• In case of an error, properly and fully erase the wrong bubble and fully darken the correct bubble.
• Fill in the date of birth in correct format: YYYYMMDD
• Write your examinee number correctly
• Mark your gender correctly: M for Male, F for Female

Intimation of JLCT Test Results

The result sheet will be posted on this site around 2 to 3 weeks after the test.

In addition, the candidates can also check their result online from the JLCT Japan site.

JLCT Qualification Certificates

A Qualification Certificate, printed in Japan by JLCT Japan, is provided to the candidates who qualify the JLCT test.

In addition, a Detailed Marks Certificate is provided to all the candidates who qualify the test or not.

These high-tech certificates are fake-copy protected.

The certificates are provided to the candidates around 5 weeks after the test. For delivery of certificate to your home address, additional courier charges will apply.
